If the 555 "Triple Nickel" is the biggest, the baddest, of Tektronix oscilloscopes, then the 556 is it's worst enemy. Without built-in timebases, and with much more versatile triggering and display switching, the 556 is the King of the Road and the king of an era. .
With no seperate power supply it is big, big, big, but self-contained. Much of this unit is solid state, the last true hybrid from Tektronix in the 1960's. This scope has a bandwidth greater than 50 mHz, depending on plugins. The 1- series is recommended for this oscilloscope.
