X10 neodymium block 1/2"X1/8"X1/2" magnets ndfeb magnet

Neodymium 1/2" x 1/8" x 1/2" Block
If you have not heard of Neodymium (NdFeB) magnets before, not to worry. They are in the family of Rare Earth magnets with Neodymium being the absolute strongest type of magnet available. They are even sometimes called permanent magnets.
This is quite a cool magnet. It is identical in shape to the other 1/2" square blocks that are available, but they are magnetized through the length and not the thickness. That means that they prefer to be on their ends vs. the bigger flat surface.
So what can you do with a magnet like this? They make brilliant fridge magnets since they are easy to handle. Plus, they have a pull force of just under 12 1/2 lbs (5.6 kg's) - very strong.
There are probably many other uses for a magnet like this. Let your imagination get the best of you, experiment, play, have fun! Just don't eat them.

Neodymium magnets have an incredibly powerful magnetic field. Extreme care should be taken when dealing with some of the larger sizes. Even a pair of 1/2"x1/8" discs can cause a reasonably uncomfortable pinch. Separating magnets may be difficult and will most likely require that you slide them apart as you probably will not be able to pull them apart.
Neodymium magnets tend to be brittle and can shatter into small pieces if allowed to slam together. They are also not suitable for machining due to their brittle nature. Unless otherwise noted, Neodymium magnets will start to lose their magnetism at temperatures above 80c (176F).
